The Healthy Transportation Network is a project of the California Center for Physical Activity in collaboration with the State & Local Injury Control Section of the California Department of Health Services; the California Bicycle Coalition; Local Government Commission; and the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy California Field Office.

Healthy Transportation Network partners have conducted and analyzed formative research with local elected officials statewide and are focusing project efforts on:

1. Providing training and educational resources to improve bicycling and walking safety;
2. Developing website resources that powerfully convey the health, transportation, environmental and economic benefits of walking and bicycling;
3. Providing technical assistance to communities to plan for and create safer walking and bicycling facilities.

The Healthy Transportation Network is funded by the Federal Highway Administration's Federal Transportation Enhancement funds and housed within the California Center for Physical Activity.
